Walter Metz is the chair of the cinema program at Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He is the author of three books: Engaging Film Criticism (2004), Bewitched (2007), and Gilligan’s Island (2012). He studies the intertextual relationships among audio-visual artworks as a method for understanding such disparate subjects as comedy, poetry, opera, the Holocaust, nuclear culture, science, and animals.
