Jessica A. Folkart is Chair of the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures, as well as Professor of Spanish at Virginia Tech. She has published three books: The Angle of Horror by Cristina Fernández Cubas, a critical edition and translation co-authored with Michelle Geoffrion-Vinci (Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, 2024); Liminal Fiction at the Edge of the Millennium: The Ends of Spanish Identity (Bucknell University Press, 2014), and Angles on Otherness in Post-Franco Spain: The Fiction of Cristina Fernández Cubas (Bucknell University Press, 2002). She has also published many articles on Peninsular Spanish culture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries in such journals as Hispania, Hispanic Review, Philosophy and Literature, and the Revista de Estudios Hispánicos. Folkart is a longstanding member of the Academy of Teaching Excellence at Virginia Tech. She has won numerous teaching awards, including the William E. Wine Award for a career history of teaching excellence, the Alumni Teaching Award, Certificates of Teaching Excellence, and the Panhellenic Teacher of Excellence Award.
